In the last week, Ryan & I have seen a huge change in Rylee's voice. Not only has she become more boisterous, but she is attracting tons of attention. When we went to the mall this week, Rylee's random yells and coos had lots of people looking. In addition, she's started to develop a little whine. While I haven't successfully caught that on camera yet, here is an example of her random yells & coos while playin with Bee Friend. Enjoy...

Strawberry Baby- March 27, 2010
When Ryan & I first started picturing what our little girl would look like, we knew there was a great chance she might have red hair. After all, I was born with red hair and Ryan even had red hair when he was a baby. And let's not forget the countless number of redheads on both sides of our families.
Well, I think the red is starting to show and Grandpa Peters snapped the photo to prove it!!
So what do you think? Will Miss Rylee stay blonde or go red?
PS That's me holding Rylee and you just might see a hint of strawberry in my hair too...

The Life of a 7-Week-Old: March 26, 2010
In just 7 weeks Rylee has grown so quickly. She is using her hands so much more and while she can't exactly grab objects, she can grasp things placed in her hands. And once she wraps her hands around something (especially her paci or, unfortunately, her own hair), she doesn't let go very easily. She also started waving her arms in the air and sometimes even bats at objects. Another amazing milestone? Rylee can do pull ups now...

6 Week Well Baby Check: March 25, 2010
Today Rylee Girl had her 6-week well baby check up with her pediatrician. Rylee now weighs 9 1/2 lbs and is 21 3/4 inches tall. I was a tad nervous for today's appointment because I knew she would be getting a few immunizations during today's visit. In addition to an oral vaccine, Rylee got two shots in her right thigh and one in her left. Our little Rylee took the thigh stabs like a champ and only let out a few cries!

Where's Waldo?, The Rylee B Edition: March 24, 2010
Our little one was in a super spunky mood this morning so we thought it would be funny to surround her little body with stuffed animals. She thought it was really cool at first too and loved being surrounded by all her buds. Unfortunately, the fun didn't last very long and Rylee didn't think the picture idea was as funny as her Mom & Dad did. Oops!!

Sitting Pretty: March 22, 2010
Getting Rylee to sit in her Bumbo isn't the easiest task. I can't blame her seeing as the seat forces her to sit straight up- a position she isn't exactly comfortable in. But, every once in a while I'm able to convince her that she looks so pretty when she sits up straight and today was one of those days. yippy...

Rylee B & Sophie: March 21, 2010
Rylee was given a Sophie Giraffe by her GAD (Great Aunt Debbie) and cousin Jen. For those of you who don't know the story about Sophie, you can read it here.
Rylee has become a bit possesive of her Sophie recently and holds onto her with a pretty tight latch!

Growing Up: March 20, 2010
Everyone warned me it would go by fast. My mom, my mother-in-law, my grandma, the lady in front of me at Target, the wife of Ryan's colleague, the touch-feely lady at Golden Spoon....EVERYONE. And now, it's happening!! Rylee turned 6 weeks last Friday and to commemorate the occasion, Miss Rylee spent her first night in her own room sleeping in her crib. While Ryan & I were a little bit nervous, she showed us she is perfectly fine sleeping in her own room by sleeping 6 straight hours!
She has officially outgrown newborn diapers and is filling out the size ones pretty nicely. Here's a sweet picture of our little one in a size 0-3 outfit (another first!!)

Rylee's First Word, "Hi": March 14, 2010
So I am officially THAT mom. Yep, I am convinced that my little baby muttered her first word at only five weeks old. Before you watch this video, there are three things you should know:
1. I am completely aware that Rylee could have possibly just happened to coo right after I asked her to speak and that it's pure coincidence that she happened to do it at just the right moment;
2. It is quite possible that coincidentally her coo just happened to sound like a "Hi", the exact word I was asking her to say; and
3. Coincidence Smishidence...my baby can talk!!! PS Check out that smile afterwards...she knew what she was doing...

Rylee B & Mia Joy: March 13, 2010
Last week we got together with some friends for dinner at their home. They have four beautiful children and their youngest, Mia, is only hours younger than Rylee! Rylee had such a great time being in the same room as her new friend and was a very happy girl! She was pretty tired by the time we got a picture of the two new friends, hence the cry face, but I'm pretty sure Rylee & Mia have many fun dates ahead!

Rylee's BFF- Bee Friend: March 9, 2010
Above Rylee's changing table is a stuffed bee that sits on a shelf. Recently, I noticed that whenever I would change her, she would always stare at the bee. So, Ryan & I started letting her cuddle up with the bee whenever we would change her. Most times she liked it, but every once in a while she would get mad at the little guy and toss him around. After their first little tiff, Rylee has slowly been letting Bee Friend back into her life. While she isn't quite ready to snuggle up with him again yet, she does tolerate his presence. Here are a few pictures:
And a few more pics I couldn't resist posting:

Girls Days Can Wear You Out: March 8, 2009
On Rylee's Birthday I thought there would be no better treat than to introduce her to the wonderful world of Girls Days. I took her to the office so that she could meet all the wonderful girls I work with. She had a great time and enjoyed staring at everyone! Then we went to lunch with a few of the girls and met up with some friends that were in town. Rylee had quite the time listening to all our girl talk! In fact, she had so much fun that she was pretty tired when we got home. She kicked off her shoes and passed out on the couch like this:

Happy One Month Birthday!!!: March 5, 2010
Ryan & I made sure Rylee's first momentous birthday didn't go unnoticed. We threw a surprise party for her (she had NO clue it was coming) complete with her favorite cookies (Funfetti- just like mom of course!). Here are a few pictures from her big day:
p.s. yes, we are aware that Rylee has some how been blessed with crazy tan skin and will always look like a bronzed goddess in any pictures she takes with her mother.
p.s.s. please excuse my mom hair. there wasn't much sleep under my belt today.

Miss Independent: March 4, 2010
Ryan & I were absolutely sure we wouldn't be "those" parents. You know the ones that shove the paci into their babies mouth every time they make a peep or need a little pacifying. We were determined not to have a little one dependent on a pacifier.
But after jetting out of Sport Chalet, Target and a few other public places when she decided to have a mini outburst, we realized the pacifier could be our ally.
Crying baby + a properly inserted pacifier= more time to get your errands done
And Miss Rylee didn't seem to mind one bit. In fact, she's been raving about the thing ever since we allowed her to discover it. After many successful outings with the pacifier, Ryan & I were ready to give ourselves our first "way to go new parents" pat on the back. That was until Miss Rylee decided to graduate to Miss Independent and show Mom & Dad she didn't need no stinkin' pacifier to go to sleep.
