I cannot believe Rylee is almost 5 months old! Here are a few things Rylee learned to do during her fourth month of life.
She found her toes! Whether she is lying on her changing table or sitting in her Bumbo, she immediately finds her feet. It won't be long before she's stuffing them in her mouth.
She loves to laugh.
She is learning to sit up on her own.
She actually enjoys tummy time now.
She loves to stand. Seriously, if she could stand and sleep, she would.
She wants to eat and drink everything mom and dad do. She reaches for our cups everytime we pick them up and she's trying to convince me she's ready to move on from rice cereal to Raisin Bran.

Squash for Rylee: June 27, 2010
Rylee had her first vegetable this weekend- yellow squash. She was pretty much in heaven both times and couldn't get enough!
We were waiting for her to make weird faces and we were fully expecting her to spit it out, but she was eating it as fast as we could spoon it. Perplexed, we just had to have a taste! (I mean, Jennifer Aniston does it so why shouldn't we?!) Bleh, the taste made us even more surprised that Rylee liked it so much!
Here are a few pictures from her first two tastings.

The Sippy Cup Trials: June 23, 2010
Recently, Ryan & I have started intoducing the sippy cup to Rylee. It's a little bit ahead of schedule, but we figured it wouldn't hurt. She didn't really understand the concept because the sippy cup requires biting down & sucking to get liquid, a combination that she doesn't have to use when drinking from a bottle.
Rylee thought the sippy cup was a brand new toy, so she had a great time trying to fit it into her mouth. Here are a few pictures of her little adventure.
And yes, I do realize she might have progressed a bit quicker if Mom wasn't in her face, making crazy noises trying to get her to look at the camera!

Ryan's First Father's Day: June 20, 2010
"What should I say about your first Father's Day?"- Me
"Beautiful"- Ry
"That's all you want me to say?"-Me
"It was perfect. It warmed my heart"-Ry
I was pretty satisfied with that last answer, and I think that is the perfect thought for today's blog. Here are a few pictures of the little one responsible for all that heart warming. ;)
Thanks to Grandpa Peters for these last three pics:

Rylee v. the Fairy: June 15, 2010
It appears as though Rylee may have had a few bad run-ins with some fairies in her early weeks of life. But don't worry, she took it all out on poor Kerry the Fairy a few days ago.

Good Nutrition for Rylee B: June 10, 2010
In the next few weeks, Rylee will begin eating solid foods. Well, not really "solid" foods, but rice cereal. (Which sounds pretty disgusting, by the way. At what point in any one's life does soggy rice mixed with breast milk ever sound appetizing?) I already have a feeling that she is going to regurgitate every last rice grain right back onto me. FUN!
Anyway, I've been doing a lot of reading about nutrition, introducing solid foods, organic produce, etc. Reading all this stuff has really brought light to the fact that I don't eat enough fruits and vegetables. And so, I've been making sure that each day I get my intake of both. What helped motivate me was that they (pediatricians, nutritionists, etc) say that babies are most likely to enjoy the solid foods that their mother's eat while breastfeeding. UH OH. Let's be honest, Rylee cannot possibly be eating an iced latte with a maple scone for lunch.
And so, as I have ventured into healthful eating these last few days, Rylee has really begun to protest. I'm talking NO naps and LOTS of spit up. But, I don't hold it against her. She's still cute as can be, so I'm allowing her to be grumpy and spit up on me as often as she wants.
Grandpa Peters babysat our little one last weekend, so I thought I would share some pictures he took. Grandpa did withhold Rylee's bottle from her which is obviously how he got that last picture. :)
