Today Rylee reached a milestone that she has never reached before. For the first time in her entire life, when someone held their arms out to take her, she turned around and clung to me as tight as she could. On the outside I acted like a tough mom and said "Aww Rylee, you're fine. Go see Miss Diane," but on the inside I was secretly melting and wanted to hold her as tight as I could! We shared a moment. :)
Here is Rylee having fun in the ball pit her Uncle Flip & Auntie Kel got her for Christmas!

All Done: January 12, 2011
Today Rylee & I joined a little bible study group. They have childcare which was a major reason why we signed up- the girl craves socialization. When I first dropped her off, they told me she would likely be in the "baby" room. I told them she would probably fit better in the Toddler room, but since she wasn't walking yet, they were worried she would get trampled by the "big" kids. I took her into the baby room which had baby stuff like rocking chairs and swings and saucers. The toddler room, with slides and play houses and loud noisy toys, looked a lot more like Rylee's style but whatev.
Anyway, when I went to pick her up guess where she was? The Toddler room.
Let me give a little background before I get too deep into the story. We've been trying to teach Rylee a bit of sign language. So far we're just working on "all done" and "more". She's got all done down pretty well. All it requires is holding your forearms up and rotating your hands in and out.
So when I go to get Rylee, I see a little girl sitting in a car. Rylee is essentially trying to hijack her. Do you know what that little girl did to MY daughter? She used both her arms and shoved her to the ground!! Initially I was a little pissed that no one scolded that girl. But when I saw Rylee roll over, sit back up, look at the little girl, and do the sign for "all done" I could hardly contain myself!! Hahaha. I really, really hope that reading this story was as funny as seeing it happen because I can hardly stop laughing just thinking about it!
Anyway, I know you guys would probably get a little fiesty if I didn't post any pictures with the blog, so here you go!

Rylee's 11 Month Birthday: January 7, 2011
We celebrated Rylee's 11 month birthday earlier this week. Ryan & I cannot believe that Rylee's first year is almost coming to a close! She has changed and evolved so much this year and we've loved getting to know the girl she is becoming!
I took her to a local kids gym for her birthday. We sang songs, did an obstacle course, rode lots of fun little rides and even did somersaults! But of course Rylee's favorite part was hangin with all the little peeps!
Most of the kids were about the same age, all within a month or two. But Rylee was BY FAR the biggest baby there. She looked so much older than these kids and had a couple pounds on all of them. She loves going up to other kids, but because she was so much bigger she just looked like the big class bully!
My favorite part was at the very end when we had to sit in a circle and sing and clap to some dumb song. Rylee scooted herself right to the center of that circle and clapped her hands and rocked back and forth. I'm not sure if she knew it was her birthday or not, but she made sure that moment was all about her.
I couldn't take pictures in the class because it required full parental involvement (boo!). But, here are some pictures from her birthday!

Walking & Kisses: January 1, 2011
Rylee loves using her stroller to get around. Rather than crawling, she'll find her stroller and walk herself to wherever she wants to go. She's become pretty good at manuvering it and has even got herself out of a few jams!
I've been working real hard on teaching her how to kiss. She only doesn't when she feels like it, but we were lucky enough to catch her giving kisses to her baby.

Rylee's First Christmas: December 31, 2010
Rylee's first Christmas was just as fun as Ryan & I imagined. Our favorite part was creating new family traditions that we hope to continue for many years to come. We did our best to hype up Christmas morning for Rylee and we loved watching her check out her new bike!
She was spoiled like crazy by family. And despite cutting her two front teeth (it's all she wanted for Christmas!) she was in a great mood all day. This truly was a Christmas to remember!
